The Role of Visual Representations in Geometry Learning

<p style="text-align: justify;">Visual representations and the process of visualisation have an important role in geometry learning. The optimal use visual complex multimedia environments has been research topic since end last century. For purpose study presented this paper, we designed a model learning with digital resources like dynamic programmes applets, which foster visualisation. Students explore geometric concepts through manipulation interactive virtual representations. This aims to whether is reflected higher student achievements solving problems. also graphical (GRs) results survey show positive impact teaching on achievement. In post-test, students experimental group (EG) performed significantly better than control (CG) overall number points, tasks without GR, calculating area perimeter triangles quadrilaterals CG students, all cases small size effect. authors therefore argue for technologies learning, because manipulatives support transition between at concrete, pictorial symbolic (abstract) levels are understanding mathematical concepts, as well exploring relationships, making precise (GRs), formulating proving assumptions, applying different problem-solving strategies.</p>
